Damietta Port Authority signing a memorandum of understanding on a $ 1 billion plus containers terminal project. The scheme is promoted by a Kuwaiti investment group (Al Rabeta Group) & would occupy 1 million M2 area at the port. Both parties have agreed to complete the project final feasibility study in 6 months time. Project first phase involves $ 420 million investments to have a capacity to handle up to 500,000-containers/ year. According to the Chairman of the Kuwaiti Group, Mr. Ali Zamiee, that first phase would generate 6,000 employment opportunities. He said a second phase would follow to raise the scheme capacity to 1.5 million containers/ year (under $ 580 million investments). |
