According to Egypt Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohie El Din, an Egyptian Bahraini coordination is now ongoing regarding the construction of a new aluminum smelter. As regards the location of such a (highly valued) project, the Minister indicated it could be in Nagee Hamadi or at a coastal area on the Red Sea. [Meanwhile the daily Al Alam Al Yom of the same day has quoted the Minister on its first page confirming the government is considering to offer a certain percentage of Egypt aluminum shares for sale on the Stock Exchange & that there is no objection to reduce the government equity sharing in the company from 92 % at present to 80 %. The Minister was further quoted in the paper revealing that investors of Australia & Arab countries are scheduled to visit the North - West Suez Gulf Zone to review potentials for an aluminum smelter project next September 2005]. |
