Recent released statistics of CAPMAS - Central Agency for Public Mobilization & Statistics, quoted in the media, have indicated that 818,500 tourists have visited Egypt during April 2005 spending 7.4 million tourist nights and $ 771 million. Development marks 13.1 % and 11.6 % growth in the number of tourists & tourist nights respectively above their level during the same month of 2004. N.B. That drove the number of tourists who visited Egypt during the first four months of 2005 to reach 2,918,900 & they have spent 26.7 million tourist nights & $ 2.77 billion. Issue sounds utmost promising to both the sector economics & much more to the country economy. Yet that places huge burdens & challenges on both the Government & the private sector to professionally act & move to revamp the sector infrastructure and compatibility to international standards in all aspects. We need always to keep the sector above competition & penetrate new remote but rich markets. |
