Telecom Egypt has awarded $ 22 million contract to Lucent Technologies of the US to install 100,000 new wireless telephone lines for completion in 2 years time. 10 % of the contract, i.e. $ 2.2 million, would be reallocated by Lucent Co. to support research & development, also to extend technical support to the Nile Technology University project. Meanwhile media reports revealed that Telecom Egypt is to soon sign another $ 20 million contract with Huwawi/ ZTE venture of China to install further 100,000 wireless telephone lines under CDMA technology covering cities in both Upper and Lower Egypt. |
