Ministry of Civil Aviation and its subordinated companies has recently completed the studies for the revamping & extension of Borgel Arab Airport under $ 83 million estimated investments. Project would occupy 18 Km2 area and dispose on a initial capacity to handle 1,000-passengers/ hour, i.e. 1-million passengers/ year. Project also provides for an air cargo division. Project is scheduled for completion by 2009. N.B. Earlier media reports indicated that Japan has extended $ 55 million soft loan to part finance the project. |
