Egypt Minister of Electricity & Energy, Dr. Eng. Hassan Younis, announced that ADB - African Development Bank has endorsed raising $ 270 million soft loan to part finance Kureimat power station third extension enrolled on the Country energy plan 2007/ 2012. The Minister stressed that both value & conditions of the loan documents full confidence of international financing institutions in Egypt future economic potential. N.B. ADB involvement would greatly encourage other financing institutions, particularly Pan Arab Funds to contribute in the project. With ample natural gas reserves and an infrastructure supporting energy exports to neighbouring countries, initially through Jordan, Egypt would remain years long an attraction point for builders, also possibly operators, of mega power stations in the region. Week earlier negotiations were held with Saudi authorities to establish an electric interlink with Saudi Arabia. |
