According to Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, Egypt Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, the country is eligible to get an additional share of Nile Water allocated to comprehensive development projects. In an interview with the Chief Editor of the daily Al Ahram, the Minister said that eligibility is within the framework of the distinguished relations existing between Egypt & other Nile Basin Countries, particularly Ethiopia. He indicated that such additional share would contribute to build more new urban societies & to consolidate operating logistics of Toshki & Al Salam Canal in Sinai. The Minister stressed the fact that any delay, which might have occurred in either project in the past would have resulted in inescapable huge increases of costs & investments. Commenting on the present Nile flood, he said it is the flood for prosperity & is of a medium volume inspite of reported water level elevation at Nasser Lake. |
